Emma Lutz-Higgins
"I am interested in time: how it slows during performance, sometimes intriguingly, sometimes frustratingly. I’m drawn to the craft of making dances that understand transformation—not duration, but the precise unfolding of time required for something to become itself. I use movement, language, and objects to distort and reveal. I am drawn to the architecture of timing and world-building, and to the effort of finding meaning in impossible contexts." Emma Luts-Higgins (she/her)
After completing her undergraduate degree at Bard College in upstate New York, Emma moved to New York City, where she worked as a freelance dancer and had the opportunity to perform at Danspace Project, Movement Research, New York Live Arts, SLAM, Triskelion Arts, and Gibney Dance. She relocated to Portland, Oregon in 2021.
